The Cry

Poets & Lighthouses专辑

  • Once in the grass
    There lived a nervous insect,
The tiniest creature in the whole wide world.
He’d been afraid of the wind all his life
And so, to get away from it,
He dug a hole, sweating and panting.
It took a year to do.
    Once in the hole
    He was cowering happily,
When the gentlest zephyr in the whole wide world
Fanned softly and blew a tiny bit of earth into the hole.
The insect, uttering the smallest saddest cry in the whole wide world
    Expired.
And the whole wide world expired.
And the whole wide world expired.
